SWIM LEG - 400m

2018 Swim 3.png

In 2024 the swim leg will be in the calm, protected waters on the north side of the Barwon Heads Bridge.

The 400m swim starts near the Ozone jetty. You will wade/swim out and turn right at a buoy then swim parallel with the shore-line, never more than 20m or so from the shoreline/sand bar. At the last buoy you will turn right and swim towards the shore.
Next, a short run along the sand and up in to transition, which is located on the grass field opposite the Barwon Heads Hotel.

Water safety will be provided by the experts from Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving club.

BIKE LEG - 14km

The bike leg is a 14km, out and back course.

You will struggle to find a more scenic bike section as the ride takes in the famous “Cadel Evans” 13th Beach Road. The amazing views of the ocean, together with a flat and fast course will make this bike leg more enjoyable than painful!

Once back in transition you will only have the 4km run leg to complete.

RUN LEG - 4km

The 4km run is on a beautiful section of path with protection amongst the coastal bushes and trees. It is mainly flat with some slight undulations along the way.

The run heads out over the Barwon Heads footbridge. Runners are to stay RIGHT at all times during the run. Once over the bridge you will connect up with the path that leads towards Ocean Grove. There are 2 drink stations which you can access water from in both directions during the run. The turnaround mark is at 2km. Remember to Stay Right at all times during the run.

Once back on the footbridge it’s only 300m to go in front of the cheering crowd to the finish line, which is located in the car-park opposite the Barwon Heads Hotel.
